Sgt. Nicholas A. Casey, Sgt. Kevin D. Grieco

The Department of Defense announced today the death of two soldiers who were supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. They died Oct. 27 in Baghlan, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when a suicide bomber detonated explosives as they were preparing to enter a building.

Killed were:

Sgt. Nicholas A. Casey, 22, of Canton, Ohio, who was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne), Fort Bragg, N.C.

Sgt. Kevin D. Grieco, 35, of Bartlett, Ill., who was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 122nd Field Artillery, Illinois Army National Guard, Sycamore, Ill.

My thoughts and prayers are with Sgt Grieco's family. He leaves behind a wife and two young children. I know his mother and father (Colonel Ralph Grieco) are heartbroken. Please pray for the family and his two children.

I served with Kevin in the Navy before he made the switch to the gaurd.. my thoughts are with his family during this time.. what a good guy! he is missed

Nick was a wonderful son, brother, father and friend. Nick is and always will be my son. He believed with his whole life in the work that he did. I will forever be grateful to him and his life and soul will live in my heart forever.

I love and miss you Nick!!!

Today in Illinois I participated in the Freedom Run Ride to the Middle East Conflicts War Memorial, I was give a dog tag with the name Sgt.Nicholas A. Casey. I don't personally know Nicholas, but I offer this to his family....My prayers are sent to you and to Nicholas. When I visit the Memorial please know that someone from Illinois is praying for him.
